Integrated Women’s Health Support
Care That Works Together For You
At Vesta, we recognise the complex nature of many pelvic health conditions that are best managed with wrap-around, coordinated team care. Lou works closely alongside Dr Michelle Proud and the wider women’s health team to ensure patients receive well-rounded, coordinated care when needed.
This collaborative approach may include support through gynaecology, fertility care, naturopathy, acupuncture, nutrition, and nervous system-informed therapies, helping women feel supported from multiple angles rather than navigating their health journey alone.

Pelvic Health Physio FAQ’S
Common Questions About Women’s Health Physiotherapy
What does a pelvic floor physiotherapist do?
A pelvic health physiotherapist assesses and treats conditions of the bladder, bowel, reproductive system, and pelvic region including pelvic floor muscles. Treatment may support pelvic pain, bladder leakage, prolapse, painful intercourse, pregnancy-related pain, postpartum recovery, and endometriosis-related symptoms.
Can pelvic health physiotherapy help with endometriosis?
Yes. Pelvic health physiotherapy plays an important role in managing endometriosis-related pain, including any symptoms of the bladder, bowel and any pain related to pelvic floor tension and nervous system sensitisation. Treatment is often most effective when combined with collaborative medical care.
Do I need a referral to see a women’s health physio?
No referral is required to book an appointment with a women’s health physiotherapist at Vesta. However, some patients may be referred by their GP, specialist, or other healthcare practitioner as part of their broader care plan. If you arrange a longer appointment with your GP to arrange a physiotherapy care plan you will be entitled to 5 physiotherapy sessions with a medicare rebate.
What happens during a pelvic health physio appointment?
Your first appointment will involve a detailed discussion about your symptoms, health history, goals, and concerns. Depending on your symptoms and consent, treatment may include education, movement assessment, breathing strategies, pelvic floor assessment, hands-on therapy, and personalised rehabilitation planning.
Are internal pelvic floor assessments always required?
No. Internal assessments are only performed where clinically appropriate and with your full consent. Your comfort and autonomy are always respected, and alternative approaches can be discussed if preferred.
Can pelvic health physio help with bladder leakage and urgency?
Yes. Pelvic floor physiotherapy commonly supports women experiencing bladder leakage, urinary urgency, frequent urination, incomplete emptying, or recurrent urinary tract symptoms. Treatment might focus on education around fluids, bladder training, improving pelvic floor function and nervous system regulation.
Can I see a pelvic physio during pregnancy or after birth?
Absolutely. Women’s health physiotherapy can support women during pregnancy and postpartum with pelvic pain, abdominal muscle recovery, pelvic floor dysfunction, prolapse management, birth preparation, and return-to-exercise guidance.
Is pelvic health physiotherapy helpful for menopause and hormonal changes?
Hormonal changes during perimenopause and menopause can affect pelvic floor tissues, bladder function, intimacy, and overall pelvic health. Physiotherapy may help women manage symptoms and maintain strength, mobility, and confidence during this stage of life.
